New approval ratings expose the US public’s view of Trump following the Epstein scandal

Americans React to Trump Amid Epstein Controversy

New polls reveal growing dissatisfaction with President Donald Trump. Approval ratings have fallen sharply as Americans weigh the Epstein controversy and rising living costs.

Approval Ratings Hit New Lows

A recent Reuters/Ipsos survey finds Trump’s approval rating dropped to 38 percent, down two points from early November. The poll, conducted over four days ending Monday, surveyed 1,017 adults nationwide with a small margin of error.

Earlier this month, another poll of 1,245 Americans reported a staggering 63 percent disapproval rating — nearly matching Trump’s lowest ever, recorded after the January 2021 Capitol riot.

Party Support Shows Cracks

Even Republican support is slipping. Trump’s approval among GOP voters fell to 82 percent, down from 86 percent earlier this month. Experts note this decline signals potential cracks in the Republican base.

This comes as the Republican-controlled House of Representatives recently passed a measure forcing the release of the so-called Epstein files from the Justice Department. Trump had opposed this move, clashing publicly with allies like Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene. Still, the White House claims he will sign the bill when it reaches his desk.

Epstein Case Fuels Discontent

The Epstein files controversy clearly influences voter sentiment. Only 20 percent of respondents — including 44 percent of Republicans — approve of Trump’s handling of the Epstein case.

Meanwhile, 70 percent of Americans believe the government is hiding information about Epstein’s alleged clients. This includes 87 percent of Democrats and 60 percent of Republicans.

Rising Costs Add Pressure

Economic concerns compound the issue. Political strategist Doug Heye notes, “People are furious when they go out and spend money at the grocery store, and they can’t believe what they are spending.”

Just 26 percent of Americans say Trump is managing the cost-of-living crisis effectively, down from 29 percent earlier this month. Meanwhile, 65 percent disapprove of his handling, including one-third of Republicans.

Bottom Line

Trump faces growing challenges. Between the Epstein files, rising prices, and waning party support, Americans are sending a clear message: dissatisfaction is rising, and voters are paying attention.
